My own personal
story...discovering a film of my parent's wedding after over
40 years.

in downtown Orlando where the TD Waterhouse now stands.
I recently found an 8mm film
of my parent's wedding in 1963 that I hadn't seen before. Although
there is no sound and the camera jumps around, this is the moment
our family began and seeing my parents getting married is
incredible! We only had photos up to this point - one with my
mother's veil standing straight up from the wind. But now my
parent's marriage has come to life! Even without sound I can see my
mother was beautiful, shy and nervous. They only knew each other for
less than a year and ,now, over 40 years later they've been through
so much! My
father is charming as ever in his suit and there's even a longtime
family friend we haven't seen in years as the best man! I am thrilled to have a copy of
it to see my parents before I was even born! My mother was a real
Jackie-O - so young and beautiful and my father is so handsome. We
never think our parents had lives before us, do we? But there it is
on film!
Why videotaping your wedding is important
for you and your children.
You have a wonderful
opportunity to share your memories with your future children. Photos
cannot capture the essence that video captures. My sister and
I played in my mother's wedding dress as children and now we can see
what she looked like wearing it. We also fondly remember the candle
sticks and silver bowl, what we now realize were wedding gifts,
sitting on the bookcase in our home.
Even if you
don't choose Write On! to videotape your wedding, please make the effort to
have someone do the job - your family will thank you for it! I know
I am so thankful after over 40 years to have a film of my parents.
